The Lois Lambert Gallery in Santa Monica presents exhibitions by emerging and mid-career artists from local and international backgrounds. The program covers painting, sculpture, mixed media, and photography, and it has featured around 70 artists. In 2012, the Project Room opened to provide a more intimate space for exhibitions. As part of Bergamot Station, the gallery contributes to Santa Monica’s cultural growth and to California’s evolving arts community, and the space is also available for events, free for non-profit organizations. The venue traces its origins to 1988 as the Gallery of Functional Art, the first tenant in Frank Gehry’s Edgemar building; it moved to Bergamot Station in 1994 and the Lois Lambert Gallery was established in 1995.
