The Long Beach Symphony is a professional performing arts organization based in Long Beach, California, presenting orchestral performances to a broad regional audience. Now in its 87th season and in the second full year with Music Director Eckart Preu, it schedules more than 100 concerts and related events each year. Its core offerings include a six-concert Classical series performed at the Terrace Theater of the Long Beach Performing Arts Center and a five-concert POPS! series in the Pacific Ballroom of the Long Beach Arena. It also runs extensive education and community outreach that reaches more than 300,000 residents, from schoolchildren to seniors, including youth concert field trips for about 12,000 LBUSD fourth and fifth graders who experience a full symphonic concert each year. The organization added a Family Concert Sunday Matinee last year, providing a free concert option for children and an outdoor musical festival component. The symphony collaborates with regional arts, educational, and cultural organizations and, in 2022, expanded its partnership with LBUSD to provide more than 150 free music education programs reaching about 25,000 students annually.
