Loreto Kirribilli is an independent, non-selective, Catholic school for girls. With an enrolment of just over one thousand students from Kindergarten through to Year 12, Loreto Kirribilli is one of many around the world directed by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), also known as the Loreto Sisters. Loreto Kirribilli proudly builds on its four hundred year international heritage and is privileged to continue the work of Mary Ward, who founded the IBVM in 1609. Mother Gonzaga Barry was the first leader of the Loreto Sisters in Australia, establishing a convent at Ballarat, Victoria in 1875, then Sydney in 1892. Originally established at Randwick, Loreto Kirribilli moved to its current site in 1901. Loreto Kirribilli is affiliated with the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA), the Junior School Heads Association of Australia (JSHAA), the Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia (AGSA), and is a member of the Association of Heads of Independent Girls' Schools (AHIGS).
