LORIS is a Superior, Colorado-based civil and structural engineering firm that has been in business for 29 years. Recently we merged with Otak, Inc., providing us with comprehensive engineering services and expanded capabilities that are complementary to our broad expertise, while helping us to maintain our small company feel. LORIS serves as prime consultant on most of our projects. Currently, in our Superior, CO office, there are 17 full-time and three contract employees on staff, each an expert in their field. Our firm has extensive experience in managing large projects that involve coordinating numerous subconsultants as well as working concurrently with multiple agencies and stakeholders. LORIS’s practice areas include civil engineering for paths and greenways, streets and intersections, streetscapes, traffic calming, hydraulics and floodplain analysis, and landscape architecture, as well as structural engineering design of pedestrian bridges, underpasses, vehicular bridges, retaining walls and other site structures, and buildings. We also perform construction management for many of our transportation projects. LORIS performs landscape architecture from our office in Superior, and now with the addition of Otak staff, we have 16 additional landscape architects/planners available to us, two of whom are located in Denver. LORIS is currently pre-qualified with CDOT to perform services in seven categories, including structural engineering, bridge design, bridge inspection, engineering management (construction), highway and street design, civil engineering, and landscape architecture. LORIS has worked on numerous federally-funded projects in the last five years. The fact that we successfully completed so many of these projects is a testament to our knowledge of CDOT design requirements and our willingness to work hard to meet tight deadlines. LORIS has considerable experience in Boulder County, CDOT Region 4, and throughout the state of Colorado working on local and federally-funded projects. We perform services that range from studies to preliminary and final construction documents. We utilize the most current design standards (such as AASHTO and NACTO) in developing solutions, and we perform all of our designs according to CDOT standards. We are known for providing high-quality civil and structural engineering services that are enhanced by our inherent attention to technical and aesthetic detail.
