CONSERVATION: We protect birds and their habitat through citizen science volunteers to monitor and protect, through public education and docent programs, policy and planning advocacy, and litigation when necessary. Ongoing conservation efforts include helping endangered species such as the Western Snowy Plover, and the California Least Tern. Lectures, workshops, bi-monthly Western Tanager newsletter serves nature lovers throughout Los Angeles and the world. EDUCATION - now operated by Nature Nexus Institute (separate non-profit org) Outdoor classrooms serve more than 5,000 students each year and provide valuable insight into local ecosystems such as those at Ballona Wetlands, Baldwin Hills Parklands and other areas in Los Angeles.
