The Los Angeles Conservancy is a private, member-based nonprofit dedicated to preserving, revitalizing, and celebrating the historic places that define Greater Los Angeles. Founded in 1978 by residents seeking to prevent the demolition of the Los Angeles Central Library, it has grown into the largest organization of its kind in the United States. Based in downtown Los Angeles and operating across Los Angeles County within the architecture and planning field, it pursues education and advocacy to elevate awareness of architectural heritage and deter needless demolitions.

The organization relies on nearly 6,000 member households and hundreds of volunteers to offer programs such as walking tours on topics from downtown redevelopment to Art Deco details, as well as the Last Remaining Seats film series, which draws more than 10,000 attendees. In 2025 it launched interactive maps for the Palisades and Eaton areas to identify designated and eligible heritage sites, legacy businesses, and other community assets, illustrating the extent of fire-related damage and loss.
