The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) is a public safety agency serving Los Angeles County, headquartered in Los Angeles, California. It is the nation's largest sheriff's department and one of the largest policing organizations in the United States, with a broad mix of sworn deputies, civilian staff, and reserve personnel. The LASD provides law enforcement across more than 4,000 square miles and serves as the primary policing agency for 130 unincorporated communities, 42 of the county's 88 cities, 10 community colleges, and more than one million daily Metrolink and MTA riders.
