The Los Angeles Theatre Center is a municipal venue in Los Angeles, operated by the Latino Theater Company. In 2006 the Latino Theater Company secured a 20-year lease for the center, and the facility underwent refurbishment, with reopening in 2007. Since then, the center has staged a multidisciplinary season that reflects the city’s diverse population. The organization runs educational programs, including a Summer Conservatory designed to offer theater training to youths aged 14 to 18 from underserved communities. In 2008 it supported 130 artists and arts organizations by providing affordable or donated space for rehearsals, performances, and cultural events, and more than 39,000 people attended events at the center.
