The Louisiana Association of Public Charter Schools (LAPCS) is a nonprofit organization based in Metairie, Louisiana, focused on improving education in the state by supporting, promoting, and advocating for high-quality public charter schools. It serves as a statewide advocate, communicating with legislators, district officials, and policymakers to highlight issues important to charter schools and to organize the charter school community around policies that grant schools the autonomy and flexibility needed to educate Louisiana students effectively. Since its founding in 2002, LAPCS has grown to represent a majority of public charter schools in Louisiana and operates within the nonprofit sector to advance charter school governance, information sharing, and member collaboration. Notable recent developments include the launch of lacandidates.com in 2021 to highlight candidates influencing state and local education governance, and the introduction of initiatives such as a facilities survey and the Charter Board Leadership Academy to support member schools and governance leadership.
