LSU Shreveport is a regional urban comprehensive university serving the Shreveport-Bossier metropolitan area. Located along the Red River in southeast Shreveport, the campus hosts about 4,500 students and offers more than 25 undergraduate programs and roughly a dozen master's programs. The faculty includes a large share of doctoral-degree holders, and the university maintains a low student-teacher ratio to support individualized instruction, while student life is reinforced by a debate team, volunteer opportunities, Greek life, athletics, a Recreational Sports Center with an indoor pool, the student newspaper The Almagest, and an Olympic Weightlifting Center.

Founded in 1967, LSUS operates in Shreveport, Louisiana, as part of the Louisiana State University system. A notable recent development is the launch of a Doctor of Physical Therapy program in partnership with Ochsner Health, combining online coursework with clinical education. The institution also participates in external collaborations and events, such as an Industry-Government Collaboration Workshop focused on defense and national security initiatives linked to Air Force Global Strike Command missions.
