For the past 35 years, I have had the great honor of working and studying with an extraordinary group of shaman women, many of them elders, from indigenous cultures all over the world.  The spiritual teachings and shamanic life wisdom which they have imparted to me are ancient, rooted deeply in the power and nurturance of our beautiful Mother Earth and the energies of the universe across many millenniums...  And yet these teachings are as powerful, uplifting and applicable in our world today as they were thousands of years ago.

I have written 19 books about my adventures, personal transformation and spiritual growth with these women, the 44 women of the Sisterhood of the Shields of whom I am, today, a member. Through my work these books and my center for shamanic studies, which draws people from all over the globe -- these women have chosen to bring their ancient wisdom into todays world in order that we may all work together to heal our planet and our own lives and restore harmony and joy to the world in which we live.  As my teachers have always said, you cannot heal the world unless you first heal yourself.... 
When you are centered in this way, you become an inspiration and beacon of light to the world around you.
I believe that this is my purpose in life: to become a bridge between Western consciousness and the sacred and ancient consciousness that also lives on this earth, as it was taught to me by the Sisterhood of the Shields.
