Lytro was a software development company based in Mountain View, California, focused on light field imaging for immersive media. Founded in 2006 by Ren Ng, whose Ph.D. research earned Stanford’s prize for best CS thesis, the company pursued advances that shifted imaging toward three-dimensional volumetric content.
