The Madison Symphony Orchestra is a mid-sized classical music ensemble based in Madison, Wisconsin, currently in its 99th season. It presents performances across orchestral, instrumental, vocal, and choral works for audiences in the Madison area and beyond, with the aim of educating and entertaining a diverse public. Its Education and Community Engagement Programs reach more than 25,000 children and adults each season, reflecting a strong emphasis on outreach. The orchestra collaborates with masterworks and guest artists from around the world to enrich the cultural fabric of south central Wisconsin. In September 2024, John DeMain stepped down as principal conductor after a 32-year tenure and will continue as principal conductor of the Madison Opera.
