Main Street Child Development Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 1973 that provides early childhood education and related support services to children and families, with a focus on low-income working families in the City of Fairfax and Fairfax County, Virginia. Operating within the individual and family services sector, the center offers a full-day preschool program for young children, out-of-school-time activities for elementary students, and engagement and adult education opportunities for parents, aiming to support school readiness and family stability. The organization serves a diverse population, including many families facing economic challenges and multilingual households, and works to connect families with additional resources while offering meals, mental health access, and services for children with special needs. Based in Fairfax, the center operates as a community-based nonprofit led by Executive Director Carol Lieske, and it emphasizes comprehensive services that address both child development and parental work support. A recent development notes ongoing engagement with families through education and support initiatives that extend beyond the classroom.
