MakerspaceCT is Connecticut’s leading innovation lab and skills development center, dedicated to empowering lives through access, innovation, and education. Our mission is to use making as a vehicle to lift up individuals and communities, bridging traditional trades with advanced manufacturing technologies. Since 2019, our 28,000 sq. ft. makerspace in the historic G. Fox Building in downtown Hartford has supported makers, students, entrepreneurs, and manufacturers with tools, training, and mentorship. We provide the technology, equipment, and workforce development programs needed to fuel Connecticut’s manufacturing, engineering, and STEM education ecosystem. Our 10 state-of-the-art workshops feature digital fabrication, CNC machining, 3D printing, CAD design, electronics, metalworking, woodworking, textiles, and virtual reality. With access to advanced tools and expert staff, members and students gain practical, career-ready skills for the future of work. Signature programs include: • Engineering Primer Program (est. 2022): A 10-week workforce training program preparing talent for engineering, manufacturing, and advanced technology careers. • MAKE’n’ABLE (est. 2022): An 8-week high school program in CAD, design thinking, and 3D printing, producing prosthetic devices for amputees. • Summer STEM (est. 2021): Weekly, project-based camps in science, technology, engineering, art, and math, where students create and take home their projects. • OSHA10 Safety Training (est. 2023). • Membership-based shared workshop (est. 2019). • MakerBattle (est. 2021): An annual combat robotics competition for all ages, promoting innovation, teamwork, and STEM learning. At MakerspaceCT, we are dedicated to promoting inclusive education, fostering workforce readiness, and supporting entrepreneurship. By addressing systemic gaps in access to manufacturing and technology training, we help individuals build skills, careers, and companies that strengthen our regional economy.
