Founded in 1981 to reduce the incidence of Malignant Hyperthermia (MH) and prevent related fatalities, MHAUS provides resources to educate and prepare health care professionals and Malignant Hyperthermia Susceptible patients and their families. The Association also advocates for continued research related to MH. Malignant Hyperthermia is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder triggered most commonly by general anesthesia and the drug succinylcholine. With higher awareness and proper treatment, MH events can be prevented and full recoveries are possible.
