The idea for MamaSezz came to co-owners Meg Donahue and Lisa Lorimer in 2011 when Meg’s mom Millie was released from the hospital to hospice in the final stages of congestive heart failure. The doctors told Meg to take Millie home and keep her comfortable during her final days.

This might have been the end of the story, but thankfully it wasn’t. Meg and Lisa went looking for stories of people who had survived heart disease and based on what they researched decided to try a whole food plant-based diet. 

The transformation was remarkable. Millie’s heart function dramatically improved. Today Millie is an active and healthy 88-year-old woman who regularly swims, drives herself everywhere, and is full of energy for active grand-daughter. 

Meg and Lisa now became obsessed with the why behind this remarkable transformation. So Meg enrolled in the T. Colin Campbell Center’s Plant-Based Nutrition program and learned about the scientific foundation of the benefits of plant-based eating. She came to understand the critical role food has in both the prevention and reversal of common chronic illnesses like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. 

However, changing their diet did not come without difficulties. Meg and Lisa discovered that whole food plant-based eating requires more time in the kitchen chopping. They wondered if there was as a company out there that would prepare plant-based foods for them and deliver to their door? The answer was no and so a business was born.

MamaSezz delivers fresh (never frozen) delicious whole food plant-based meals with no B.S. (bad stuff) to your door.  The company mission is to heal people and the plant one delicious meal at a time.
