Maribyrnong City Council is undergoing significant change in population growth, redevelopment, and a transitioning economy is leading to an influx of new residents, businesses and opportunities.  Maribyrnong is becoming a sought after residential area and a destination for foodies.

Maribyrnong's multicultural diversity is evident with around 40% of residents born overseas and speaking languages other than English.  

Our role is to provide leadership and governance for the city.  As the closest level of government to the community, Council is best placed to respond to and advocate for community challenges and needs, through considering its diverse needs in decision making, advocacy and support, ensuring resources are well-managed and governed responsibly and accountably.
