Marin Water, established in 1912, is the oldest municipal water district in California. It provides local water service to more than 191,000 residents in central and southern Marin. About 75% of its supply comes from rainfall collected in the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed and the west Marin hills, with water stored in seven reservoirs and distributed through a network that includes hundreds of miles of pipes, storage tanks, and pump stations; the district also sources additional supply from the Russian River system via the Sonoma County Water Agency.

Marin Water's mission centers on prudent land, water, and facility management to deliver reliable, high-quality water while safeguarding these resources for the future. The organization is based in Corte Madera, California, and operates within the utilities sector as a public water provider. In 2026, Marin Water began the environmental review process for the Atmospheric River Capture Project, reflecting ongoing efforts to adapt its water resources management.
