Marine Corps University Press (MCUP) is a scholarly publisher within the book and periodical publishing sector, operating as the official publisher for the Marine Corps. Based in Quantico, Virginia, the press focuses on national security, military history, and international relations, producing peer‑reviewed books and journals that are openly accessible to readers and do not charge authors or the public for access. Serving scholars, policy makers, analysts, and military leaders, MCUP aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue across civilian and military communities and to broaden discussion on security issues through its three journals: Expeditions, Journal of Advanced Military Studies, and Marine Corps History.
The organization positions itself as a platinum open access press and is a full member of the Association of University Presses, underscoring its commitment to rigorous scholarship and open dissemination. Though small in size, MCUP contributes to its field by publishing content that aligns with the Marine Corps’ professional reading program and by supporting diverse viewpoints within its areas of interest. A recent related development includes ongoing efforts to publish and expand its journals and manuscript submissions, reflecting its role as a platform for scholarly exchange in national security and international relations.
