Marmara University is a long-standing higher education institution based in Istanbul, Turkey. It traces its origins to 1883 when it was established as Hamidiye Ticaret Mekteb-i Âlisi, with the institution reopening as a university in 1897 after a period of reorganization under the Education Ministry. As a large university, it employs thousands of staff and supports a comprehensive academic mission in the Turkish higher education landscape. The university actively hosts and participates in events such as the 4th International Marmara Graduate Communication Students Congress and the 1st Public Diplomacy Symposium (KADİS) in 2025, reflecting engagement in communication, diplomacy, and career development. It also organizes and participates in campus-wide activities like the Cup-Marmara Cup25 awards and the MARKAM 2025 Career Fair across several campuses. In late 2024 Marmara was recognized with an Encouragement Award within TÜBA and TÜBİTAK Science Awards, underscoring its standing in the Turkish scientific community.
