Maria Hernandez is a Maryland Certified Spanish Teacher who has taught all levels of Spanish offered in the Maryland school system. Growing up in a bilingual world by speaking Spanish at home and English in school, Maria quickly learned the importance of effective communication. The need to communicate in more than one language was always present. French was soon added in her middle school years. A Ford Foundation Grant allowed her to continue graduate work in Romance Languages. Future grants from the French and Spanish embassies provided summer studies in Southern France along with additional graduate work at the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. These opportunities only reaffirmed her predetermined notion of bilingual importance.


Maria has provided her Spanish tutoring services to the communities of Ellicott City, Oella, Woodstock, Marriottsville and Columbia, Maryland. Having taught all levels of Spanish in Florida and Maryland, Maria knows the demands of the the Spanish Language curriculum. Holding a Masters degree in Romance Languages from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill along with more than 20 years of teaching experience in middle school, high school and junior college, Maria knows how to break down the most complex nuances of the Spanish language so that her students become capable and confident in their own Spanish language abilities.
