The McAllen Economic Development Corporation is a not-for-profit entity under contract with the City of McAllen to spur job growth by attracting new industry and supporting expansion for existing companies in McAllen and in Reynosa, Mexico. It works with prospective industrial clients—ranging from suppliers to manufacturers—providing marketing, public affairs, and corporate support to manufacturing and supplier firms. Given McAllen's proximity to Reynosa and access to three international bridges, MEDC promotes cross-border opportunities and information about relocation to Reynosa, while offering services at no charge in McAllen or Reynosa. Operating in the international trade and development field, the organization serves companies seeking to relocate or expand operations by connecting them with site opportunities and regional resources. In January 2025, Elizabeth Suarez was appointed as joint CEO of MEDC and the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.
