Birmingham natives Jim King and Travis McGowin together have more than 80 years in the mortgage business here. When they founded McGowin-King Mortgage in 1998, they did so with a simple goal in mind: to build a business on relationships, and to foster those relationships with integrity, trust, and community involvement. Every loan we’ve brokered since that founding has been anchored in these beliefs.

Now, our team has grown. Jim’s son, Jimbo, joined the company in 2006, and Travis’ son, Warner, joined in 2011. With a group of 14 originators, processors, and staff, we pursue a simple philosophy: We believe that when you exceed a customer’s expectations, you build a relationship. That’s much more than just a transaction. It means we’re here before, during, and after your loan or HECM process. It means we’re your advocate during one of the biggest financial decisions of your life. It means we want to do business with you again, and we’re willing to work hard to earn it. Those are simple ideas, but they’re not common practice. At McGowin-King, they are our guiding principles. Everything we do, we do with these goals in mind.
