MeckEd is a nonprofit organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina, focused on education administration programs aimed at strengthening public schools. It operates as an independent, nonpartisan advocate for excellent public education, seeking to ensure all children have access to quality schooling and are prepared for college or career. The organization was founded in 2006 through a merger of four educational entities in Mecklenburg County and now works to inform, engage, and influence the Charlotte-Mecklenburg community. As a trusted information source for the local community, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools leadership, and the Board of Education, MeckEd connects a broad range of stakeholders, including parents, educators, civic and faith-based groups, community leaders, and businesses, in support of public education. One recent development is a 2022 partnership with the Charlotte Area Fund to address root causes of generational poverty and pursue systemic change in four CMS high schools.
