The Medic One Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in Bellevue, Washington, that funds research and paramedic training supporting the Medic One pre-hospital emergency care system in the Puget Sound region.
Founded in 1969 by Dr. Leonard Cobb and Seattle Fire Chief Gordon Vickery, the initiative sought to determine whether critically ill patients could be saved outside a hospital and whether non-physicians could deliver advanced care under physician direction; within two years, both conclusions were validated and Medic One became a permanent community service.

For decades, the foundation has served as the primary supporter of this program, contributing to ongoing innovation in pre-hospital emergency care and to thousands of survivors in the area.
Its work targets public-safety agencies, EMS professionals, and the broader community that benefits from rapid, higher-level care outside hospitals.
A recent leadership change and partnerships illustrate ongoing activity: in 2025, Craig Peterson was named president of the board, and in 2024 the foundation partnered with North Seattle College to support EMT training.
