The Medical Research Analytics and Informatics Alliance (MRAIA) serves the growing demand for health information technology solutions in multi-site public health informatics. We host numerous regional and national research projects and public health activities, and are the designated agent of the State of Illinois for transmitting medical data through the Public Health Reporter software system. - Over 100+ Illinois healthcare institutions transmit data through MRAIA. - We're the switchboard that routes data to the Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange (I-CARE), Illinois National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (I-NEDSS), the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) BioSense program and National Healthcare Safety Network Surveillance system (NHSN). - We facilitate interoperable connections between healthcare providers and hospitals in partnership with the Illinois Health Information Exchange. - We host an Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology community transformation grant in which Clinical Care Documents are parsed and quality measures produced using the popHealth open-source software. MRAIA works closely with the Hektoen Research Institute, the Collaborative Research Unit at Cook County Health and Hospitals System, and medical informaticians at most of the Chicago Area Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Network (CAPriCORN) sites to develop the IT infrastructure and platforms needed to support medical research needs, including data aggregation, transformation, and transmission platforms, computer-assisted survey technologies, disease registries, and patient engagement platforms.
