Mental Health America of Greenville County operates as the Greenville, South Carolina local chapter of a national, voluntary organization focused on mental health and reducing the impact of mental illness. It is the only broad-based group in Greenville County dedicated to addressing all facets of mental health and illness, and it previously operated under the name Mental Health Association of Greenville County. The Crisis Intervention Services program in Greenville encompasses suicide prevention, intervention, and after-care, including the Survivors of Suicide support group and closed grief groups. The 988 Crisis & Suicide Lifeline is a 24/7 confidential resource described as providing a nonjudgmental sounding board for people facing life’s challenges. Beyond crisis support, MHAGC offers independent living assistance for individuals disabled by mental illness, including a Representative Payee Program, Operation Santa, and Housing, to help people live independently in safe, affordable homes.
