Beyond transportation planning, MCAG administers the Transit Joint Powers Authority for Merced County, the Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority, and the Yosemite Area Regional Transportation System. The agency is based in Merced, California, and was formed in 1967 through a Joint Powers Agreement. A 2023 development involved MCAG contracting with Willdan Group to develop an Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan.
