Meyer Hatchery was founded by Karen Meyer in 1985. Karen was a young mother, raising her family alongside her husband on their dairy farm in Polk, Ohio and her small flock of chickens was her hobby. As the hobby flock grew into a small business, family support and hard work put the business on the path to success. Over 35 years later, the Meyer Family are still proud owners of the industry-leading hatchery that offers over 160 breeds of poultry including chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas, and game birds, plus a full line of feed and supplies.

The busy season of Meyer Hatchery (December-May) can employ 80-100 team members, all working to ensure happy, healthy chicks for our customers that are hatched and shipped every week, year-round. Even when hatching has slowed down (June-November), we are busy with flock management, equipment upkeep, marketing, and operation of our retail store that features an attached feed drive-through and is fully stocked with poultry-keeping supplies, as well as gifts, home decor, and books.

Meyer Hatchery has pioneered the poultry industry by being the first to offer small minimum orders, a 48-hour live and well policy, a 100% gender accuracy policy, breed stamping of our hatching eggs, leg banding for hard to identify rare breeds, and we pride ourselves on our commitment to excellent customer service. We are even the first hatchery to launch a podcast! Whether you are just getting started on your poultry-keeping journey or are a large production operation, we are positioned to be able to serve all types of customers. Aside from the large selection of breeds and supplies, we also seek to be an authority of education and knowledge for our customers.
