Mi Work Matters is a civic and social organization based in Livonia, Michigan, focused on creating and sustaining inclusive, meaningful employment opportunities for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in southeast Michigan. It supports both individuals with I/DD and local employers by developing cohesive employment programs and partnerships that add value to organizations. Its activities include grassroots advocacy, education, outreach, and directly employing people with I/DD through its inclusive business, Anastasia and Katie's Coffee Shop & Cafe in Livonia. In December 2019, Mi Work Matters opened Anastasia and Katie's Coffee Shop & Cafe in Livonia, providing a venue for inclusive employment and on-the-job training. The Employment Ambassadors program is supported by a grant from the Global Down Syndrome Foundation through its Self Advocate Employment Initiative. The organization emphasizes a diverse community free from discrimination and harassment, where everyone is treated with fairness, respect, equity, and dignity.
