Miami Children's Museum is a mid-sized nonprofit educational institution based in Miami, Florida. Founded as the Miami Youth Museum in 1983 and moving to a 56,500-square-foot facility in 2003, it now operates as one of the largest children's museums in the United States and the only such institution in Miami-Dade County. The museum provides hands-on, interactive exhibits and programs designed to foster learning through play, inviting visitors to engage in exploration, imagination, and creativity while serving the diverse South Florida community. Approximately 445,000 children and their families visit annually, with the venue attracting both local residents and tourists. The museum positions itself within the nonprofit education and children's museum sector, emphasizing informal learning through play. In 2024 it launched the Museum Playful Learning Collective, a national partnership of more than ten museums examining preschool education and school readiness, reflecting an effort to extend its reach beyond the local region.
