MAISA is a professional association that brings together superintendents and district-level administrators who represent Michigan's 56 Intermediate School Districts. Through collaboration, ISD leaders coordinate essential services that support teaching and learning across their districts. By aligning efforts and pooling resources, the organization helps deliver specialized services that would be difficult for individual districts to provide alone. Its work spans a broad range of supports, including special education, vocational and language programs, early childhood education, transportation, parent and community involvement, and lifelong learning opportunities. The organization is based in Lansing, Michigan, and maintains a mid-sized staff. In 2025 it received an AWS Award for transforming the state's education data architecture.
