The Michigan Science Center in Detroit operates as a museum and education hub focused on STEM discovery for visitors of all ages across Michigan. As a Smithsonian affiliate, MiSci provides interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and programs that support understanding in science, technology, engineering, and math. The facility houses more than 220 interactive exhibits and features a Toyota Engineering 4D Theater, alongside lab activities designed to be customized for different visits. Beyond its Detroit site, MiSci conducts a Traveling Science Program and a distance-learning initiative called ECHO, with a goal of reaching all 83 counties in Michigan. MiSci operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and does not receive funding from the city of Detroit or the state of Michigan. In May 2026, the center launched Science of Safety, a program that combines free museum access with STEM-focused education about public safety.
