The Michigan Supreme Court is the state's court of last resort within the administration of justice. It is composed of seven justices. Each year, it receives more than 2,000 applications for leave to appeal, typically from litigants seeking review of Michigan Court of Appeals decisions. In addition to its judicial duties, the court provides general administrative supervision of all state courts and establishes rules for practice and procedure across the system.
