MicroLoan Foundation USA seeks to alleviate poverty, advance gender equality, and empower women entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa. We carry out our mission by empowering impoverished and underserved rural women to become self-sufficient through the provision of financial literacy training, specialized business training and continued mentoring, and small loans. We give women a hand up, not a hand out. Microloan is a leader in socially driven nonprofit microfinance. In sub-Saharan Africa, we employ over 300 local staff in 50+ rural locations, serving almost 100,000 women annually. MicroLoan enables women to own and operate self–sustainable businesses, creating a steady income stream, while teaching women how to maintain savings in case of emergencies. With their increased income women and their dependents have greater access to education, healthcare, food, sanitation and clean drinking water. We maintain a 97% loan repayment rate, allowing MicroLoan to recycle capital and provide training and loans to more and more women. On average, each of the half a million women served by MicroLoan to date has 4 dependents ultimately benefiting from MicroLoan’s assistance. In total, over 2.5 million people have benefited from MLF’s services. With our help, they seek greater educational opportunities, use healthcare facilities, consume clean water and benefit from improved sanitation. As our clients’ businesses grow and additional women join our ranks, MicroLoan continues to provide the means for tens of thousands of women to increase income and improve their lives. #womensempowerment #financialliterecy
