The Mid-Atlantic Aerospace Complex markets the North Central West Virginia Airport and the capabilities of its member aviation and aerospace organizations to government and industrial clients worldwide. It operates as an economic development organization with the goal of developing the airport to its full potential. Based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the MAAC complex supports a large regional aerospace workforce, employing about 1,400 people in aviation-related roles and generating around $50 million in direct wages annually; total direct and indirect aerospace jobs in the area total about 3,200. This year MAAC introduced a revised Aerospace Education Program aimed at stimulating student interest and building a pipeline for aerospace higher education and industry in West Virginia. The program includes creating an aerospace-focused curriculum aligned with state standards and a range of activities such as career fairs, industry days, guest speakers, and school-based experiences.
