MidRail is a freight rail operating company focused on originating, acquiring, consolidating, and developing integrated rail assets and operations across North America. MidRail intends to target private industrial rail divestitures and outsourcing opportunities, short lines, Class I spin-offs, independent rail facilities, and select (industry “hub” type) rail services and technologies. We are seeking to invest $350 million in equity capital over the next two to three years with approximately $10-80 million of invested capital per deal. We have the permanent capital to make things happen in the smaller, undercapitalized, and underfollowed segments of the rail and rail services businesses. We seek out management and rail activities that have been overlooked by others. The company was founded by Gilbert H. Lamphere and Raj K. Gupta and, most importantly, a team of railroad operating executives with over 200 years of combined rail experience.
