Established in 2000, Midwest Automotive Designs embarked on a mission to craft luxury personal use conversions on the Mercedes Sprinter platform. Our journey commenced with the introduction of the Business Class and Weekender models. These groundbreaking vehicles, utilizing the Sprinter chassis, made their debut at the prestigious 2001 SEMA Show, marking the innovative approach to luxury conversion vans. Yet, our narrative extends beyond 2000. It traces back to 1978 with the founding of Chariot Vans, and further flourished in 1992 with StarCraft and Imperial Vans, followed by Elk Automotive in 1998. Together, these entities produced nearly 260,000 vehicles. Midwest Automotive Designs spearheaded the development of the first second-stage conversion Sprinter, adhering to all Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, thus underscoring our unwavering commitment to safety. We reached a significant milestone by becoming the first Quality Approved upfitter for the Mercedes Sprinter in the U.S., setting a benchmark for the industry. In 2016, we introduced the revolutionary Freedom Package, featuring the first lithium system designed to eliminate the need for propane gas. This pioneering technology not only offers a cleaner and more efficient power solution but also underscores our dedication to innovation and sustainability. In 2017, Midwest Automotive Designs was acquired by REV Group (NYSE: REVG), ushering in new avenues for growth and collaboration. This strategic move enabled us to produce private label vans for renowned brands such as Ultimate Toys, Chinook, Holiday Rambler, Fleetwood, and American Coach, further exemplifying our versatility and industry leadership. Today, with over 13,000 vans crafted, Midwest Automotive Designs boasts a team of over 300 dedicated professionals, manufacturing nearly 1,800 custom vans annually on our expansive 23-acre campus in Elkhart, Indiana. At Midwest Automotive Designs, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence.
