The Ministry of Employment and the Economy is a Finnish government ministry that shapes policy to support entrepreneurship and innovation, ensures the functioning of the labor market, and promotes workers’ employability, while guiding regional development. It is based in Helsinki and was established in 2008, formed from the former Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Labour, and the regional development unit of the Interior Ministry. The ministry's responsibilities span industrial policy, energy policy, and the integration of climate policy planning, along with innovation and technology policy and the internationalization and safety of enterprises. It also oversees employment and unemployment policy, public employment services, working conditions, collective agreements and labour dispute arbitration, as well as regional development, market functionality, competition, consumer policy, and immigrant integration. In early 2026, the ministry participated in the 6th China-Finland Committee for Innovative Business Cooperation Meeting in Beijing, illustrating ongoing international cooperation.
