Mission Action is a community-based nonprofit rooted in San Francisco’s Mission District, working alongside low-income and immigrant communities to build stability, dignity, and opportunity. Our work is grounded in meeting people where they are while addressing the systemic barriers that impact housing, immigration status, economic security, and overall well-being. Through culturally responsive, trauma-informed programs, we support families, adults, and transitional-age youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability, provide immigration and deportation defense support, expand access to food and basic needs, and invest in workforce development and worker-owned cooperative models that create pathways to long-term economic mobility. At Mission Action, we believe lasting change happens when communities are resourced, organized, and empowered. By combining direct services, advocacy, and leadership development, we work to ensure our communities not only survive but thrive.
