Mission EDC is a local economic development organization focused on creating jobs, attracting investment, improving quality of life, and strengthening the workforce in Mission, Texas. In 2011, it undertook a strategic realignment that defined five focus areas, including Entrepreneurship and STEAM Education; Infrastructure and Transportation; Quality of Life; Business Expansion and Retention; and Recruitment. The board identified education as the foundation for broader development and created three initiatives—Ruby Red Ventures, Code the Town, and Enginuity—to advance that priority. A core function of MEDC is to support local and relocating businesses, offering information on labor, land, and infrastructure to navigate the competitive market. Recent developments include launching the Mission Ready workforce initiative in April 2026 and pursuing partnerships such as with the Texas Citrus Fiesta, alongside recognition for economic excellence.
