Mission: Readiness is a nonpartisan nonprofit that brings together nearly 800 retired admirals and generals to address national security through investments in America's youth, operating under the Council for a Strong America. Based in Washington, D.C., the organization emphasizes that robust education, fitness, and lawful behavior are essential for young people, whether or not they choose military service. It highlights that a majority of 17- to 24-year-olds in the United States are ineligible for military service due to educational gaps, weight, or criminal records. To influence policy, Mission: Readiness engages policymakers and the public through meetings, testimony, letters, op-eds, research reports, events, and sign-on campaigns. Its efforts focus on expanding high-quality early childhood education, improving access to healthier school meals, and strengthening physical education.
