The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is a state government agency established in 1902 and based in Jackson, Mississippi. It collects, preserves, and provides access to the state's archival resources. Through five divisions—Administration, Archives and Records Services, Historic Preservation, Museums, and Programs and Communication—the department sustains its preservation mission.

It administers the state's government records program and historic preservation office while overseeing a network of historic sites and museums across Mississippi. The department manages venues such as the Museum of Mississippi History, the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, Eudora Welty House & Garden, Manship House Museum, Old Capitol Museum, and the historic section of the Mississippi Governor’s Mansion in Jackson, along with the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians in Natchez, Historic Jefferson College in Washington, and Winterville Mounds in Greenville; this work aims to preserve Mississippi's diverse historic resources and share them with the public to inspire discovery and connect past and future.
