The Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) is a Mississippi-based nonprofit serving as the state's business association since 1949. It represents a broad membership of more than 11,000 individuals from roughly 1,100 member firms and addresses business issues through advocacy, research, resources, and leadership programs. The group seeks to foster a statewide business community and to provide its members with a meaningful voice in state policy discussions. MEC operates from Jackson, Mississippi, and runs Leadership Mississippi, one of its flagship leadership development programs. The organization emphasizes coalition-building to advance statewide interests and maintain a united business front on policy matters. In April 2025 MEC hosted its 76th annual meeting, highlighting topics such as childcare, talent retention, and workforce development.
