The Mobile Airport Authority is a regional aviation organization that owns and manages substantial land and built-space assets in Mobile, Alabama. It controls about 4,500 acres of land and more than 6 million square feet of buildings, with leasing options for ground and space and many properties offering direct runway access. Established in 1980, the authority operates Mobile Regional Airport, the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley, and the adjacent Mobile Downtown Airport. The Aeroplex provides integrated logistics across land, sea, air and ground and has long hosted maintenance and repair operations and FAA Part 145 repair stations. A number of aerospace tenants, such as Continental Motors, VT MAE, Star Aviation and Aerostar, are based at the Aeroplex. In a notable development, Airbus designated the Mobile Aeroplex as its first final assembly line in North America, underscoring the authority’s role in supporting aerospace manufacturing.
