Model Cities's mission is to provide social and economic prosperity by providing access to opportunities that stabilize and develop families and communities. We work across the housing continuum, from Safe Space Shelter for unhoused adults, to Families First and Sankofa supportive housing, to HomeStretch workshops and Pre-Purchase Counseling for first time homebuyers. We aim to work with folks wherever they are on their housing journey. Our programming also includes crisis intervention, youth services, family coaching, community coaching, financial literacy workshops, and property development within the community. Our BROWNstone Building is a mixed-use development that includes 35 units of workforce housing, as well as 5 suites of affordable and accessible commercial space for small businesses. BROWNstone is located at the Green Line’s Victoria Street Station. Current community projects and partnerships include: - The Sherburne Collective, a partnership with Housing Justice Center, Rondo Community Land Trust, Hope Community, and the Frogtown Neighborhood Association. The collective purchased the building at 652 Sherburne Ave from the City of St. Paul, and is renovating it into six multi-family housing units with the goal of creating affordable ownership opportunities for the community. - "What’s Your Money Mindset?" financial education workshops in partnership with Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood and Hallie Q. Brown Community Center. - Safe Space Shelter's new location in partnership with Central Baptist Church in St. Paul.
