Modern Mouse offers a fun, stylish, and creative collection of high-quality, modern goods made by independent artists and small manufacturers across the USA. We’re drawn to simple items that make us smile, and find it pleasing to sprinkle beautiful handmade objects amidst a sea of mass produced product in this day & age. Our doors opened in 2009 as a pop-up for the holidays at the Alameda South Shore Center, but we were so well received, that we’ve stayed ever since! As of 2017, Matt & Mynt Ortega bought the business from the original owner and OG Mouse herself, Eleen Hsu. We delight in the unique nature of handcrafted objects. and are inspired by the idea of them being produced or designed, one at a time at the desks and computers of individual artists, perhaps just miles from our own homes. We’re thrilled to now be working with over 200 local & independent designers across the USA! That’s more indie artisans under one roof than anyone else in the Bay Area. In-store you'll find housewares & living accessories, artwork, fashion accessories, apparel, jewelry, and much more. We have something for just about everyone! You’ll also enjoy our in-store events, such as book signings, live drawings, seasonal shindigs, anniversary parties, and more.
