Moment Energy is a Canadian-based mid-sized company in industrial machinery manufacturing and cleantech that repurposes retired electric vehicle batteries to form battery energy storage systems. Based in Coquitlam, British Columbia, it aims to provide reliable, environmentally friendly power while keeping batteries out of landfills. The solutions help off-grid customers reduce diesel use, enable a shift to renewables, and also offer peak shaving and backup power for commercial and industrial customers. The company works with automakers including Nissan North America and Mercedes-Benz Energy and is Canadian-owned and operated, founded by four tech entrepreneurs with a mission to broaden access to clean power worldwide.
In June 2026, Moment Energy expanded its facilities to Vancouver, opening a second-life battery facility to scale its reuse operations. This expansion highlights its focus on repurposing retired EV batteries for energy storage across North America.
