In 1934 Maurice Lyon founded our company by signing an agreement with Empire Oil Co. Empire would later become known as Wolf's Head Oil Co., making Monarch one the nation’s 1st Wolf’s Head distributors. We have continued to carry a full line of Wolf’s Head products through three generations of family ownership. During that time, Al Zionts, Maurice’s son in law, took over the company, and eventually transferred the company to his son before passing away this year. His son, and current president Harry Zionts now leads the company. Over the years, we have added many other product lines including Kendal, Pennzoil, Shell, Mobil 1, and Berkebile chemicals. In recent years, we added fuel treatments from many vendors like Startron, Power Service etc. Our biggest change came in 2009 when we added our own line of high quality lubricants known to the market as Monarch Performance Products. In 2008, a decision was also made to add a full time sales manager, Ron Wickwire, who brought a long history, of technical and sales expertise to the company. In recent years, the company has seen tremendous growth in size and scope. Our service area has a reach of 1.5 hours in any direction of our office which is located on Washington Boulevard in Pittsburgh.
